How to Copy Assignments to Other Courses

Last Updated: Feb 11, 2016 12:29PM EST
We've added a new feature to help you copy assignments you have created into a new free or paid course you want to teach. Generally courses have unique assignments, but sometimes it makes sense copy an assignment from one course to another.

Here is how it works:

Go to any video, download, resource or text assignment and click the 'edit' button:

At the bottom of the screen you'll see a 'copy this assignment' link:

If the link does not appear, it means that assignment type is not supported for the copy feature. Currently the only assignment types we do not support are Quizzes, but we are working on adding this.

Click the 'Copy this Assignment' link and you go to a separate page to select a course module from another course where you want to copy the file. You'll only be able to choose courses for which you have 'administrator' permission. If you don't see the course in the menu, let us know and we can add the necessary permissions for you.

After you copy the file, please make sure you go to course you copied it to and make sure it looks okay. It will go in as the last assignment in the course module you chose.

Note that this makes a unique copy of your assignment and also copies the underlying asset (video, pdf, excel file etc). That means you'll now have two totally separate assignments. If you edit an assignment or upload a new asset, the changes you make will only affect that one assignment.
